Grades
Six tiers, applied to both players and leagues. Pick a tab to read the version that matters for your context.
Grades are per league. The same player can be a Game Changer in one league and Intermediate in a stronger one — the tier reflects how they play in that specific room. Anywhere you see a player’s grade, it’s scoped to the league you’re browsing. Their profileshows the full picture: one row per league they’re in.
Voting is league-scoped too. When you grade someone, your vote counts toward the league you’re currently inside — shown as “counts toward {league}” next to the form. Every vote is anonymous; individual votes are never shown. Final grade blends peer votes (50%) and commissioner votes (50%).
- Not Rated
New to BDL or hasn't logged enough runs to be graded yet. Default for first-timers — rating unlocks after a few sessions and peer feedback.
- Novice
New to organized pickup. Still learning rotations, spacing, and pace. Hustle and conditioning carry more weight than craft. Welcomed at beginner-friendly runs.
- Intermediate
Solid rec-league hooper. Knows the game, hits the open shot, finishes around the rim, plays within a team concept. The default level of most pickup runs.
- Advanced
Former HS varsity, former college players past their prime years, or strong rec regulars. Reads plays, creates their own shot, guards up a level, makes the right pass. Holds their own at competitive runs.
- Game Changer
Former college player or top-tier rec hooper. Raises the level of every team they're on. Can take over a stretch on either end. Captains pick first.
- Pro
D1, overseas, G League, or pro experience. Rare ceiling — used sparingly to keep runs balanced. Think "gym ringer." Captain selection may be flagged.
